PUNE, June 18: Team India's newly-appointed cricket manager Chandu Borde seems to have taken his 'surprise appointment' in his stride and is working hard towards meeting the challenge.
The Indian team will leave for the upcoming tours of Ireland, Scotland and England on Tuesday and the septuagenarian had spent most of his time on Monday watching the last day's play of the fourth Test between England and West Indies when TOI caught up with him.
"The ball is swinging quite a lot. It appears that there is still a bit of dampness in the wicket and the atmosphere," Borde said as England struggled against the West Indies' bowling.
The former captain and chairman of selectors has been busy making notes on the England players. "Mentally, I'm prepared for the tour. I'm looking forward to it. Once we go there, I will have discussions with Rahul, the coaches and the team," he said.
Borde was quite particular about some England players like Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood. "I have been watching them on TV for quite some time and have made notes on them. Andrew Strauss is also not a bad batsmen, although he's had a lean patch of late."
As for Michael Vaughan, Borde said that he was injury-prone and thus susceptible to scoring less.
